Cover Artist: Demerise Perricone

Demerise Perricone has always been moved by the beauty of the colors of nature—whether skies, water, or landscape—she enjoys painting the world around her and she has found that the Huntington area has no shortage of things to paint.

Painting got to be a serious matter for her in high school became her major at Hofstra University. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Painting, studying under Pearle Fine who is considered to be among the most prominent female artists associated with abstract expressionism. Her graduate degree is from Queens College where she studied with renowned watercolor artist Barse Miller.

Demerise taught art for 32 years, mostly in Port Washington. she had a solo exhibit during the summer of ’99 in a local gallery, had a painting in Northport Historical Society’s juried exhibit “Artist’s Vision of Northport” and she is currently a member of Firefly Artists, a cooperative gallery featuring local artists located in Northport Village. She has been a Northport resident for almost 40 years.
